It's almost that time of year again—the time to make New Year's resolutions that are completely unreasonable! I hope that you find this article helpful in achieving one of your goals for 2023, which is to be more productive.
Since I was in high school, I've been interested in increasing my personal productivity so that I can spend more time with my friends and participate in activities such as sports and video games. One of the most inspiring words for me is "Achiever," and I was able to capitalise on this quality to earn my doctorate in fewer than three years while continuing to work full-time.
5 Ways To Improve Your Productivity
Therefore, in order to assist you in being more productive in the year 2023, here are five tips:
1. The Principles of Lean Thinking
Lean thinking (the elimination of waste or non-value-added activities in a process) can save your life. As you begin a new year, this outlook can serve you well. What activities are you currently engaging in that are not contributing to your success or happiness? For example, if you have a meeting in the morning and you live in Los Angeles, you can save yourself an unnecessary one to three hours of wasted time by leaving for the meeting site at least an hour or two early and working at a Starbucks close to the meeting location.
2. Be Yourself
Having an unforced and unassuming charisma about you is one of the surest ways to achieve success. When you make the choice to treat yourself with dignity, you become an embodiment of understated assurance. Your goals revolve around being honest, helpful, powerful, courageous, smart, successful, dependable, and content.
If you're going to be successful, at least don't brag about it. Having solid relationships in place is crucial to the success of any enterprise. Authenticity means never changing who you are for other people or for different circumstances. This sincerity will help you gain the trust of those around you. Building trustworthy connections that benefit both parties is essential in business.
3. Having good relationships
"Soft skills," which include interpersonal abilities, are essential for succeeding in personal and professional relationships. If we have healthy relationships at home and at work, we can accomplish our goals more quickly and with greater precision. If you've helped out coworkers from a different team or department, they might tell you about an impromptu meeting that could have an effect on your team if you weren't invited. Please and thank you go a long way when communicating via email. A great way to build relationships or convey a complex or sensitive issue is to pick up the phone instead of sending a long email or instant message. Having coffee or lunch together, seeking out guidance or a mentor, and doing acts of kindness are all great ways to network.
4. Maintain A Healthy Mind
According to the results of a recent study, levels of stress have reached an all-time high. When anxiety levels are high, it's challenging to maintain concentration. I used to go to the gym at 3:30 in the morning before heading into the office to get a workout in before starting my day, but instead of just working out, I would use that time to meditate, practise mindfulness, and make a game plan for the day ahead, all in an effort to alleviate the stress that came with working on very demanding projects. Now that I'm a dad, I get to spend time with my kids in the mornings while their mother sleeps in peace and I get to get my workout in before turning in. Not checking my phone until after I'd worked out, gotten coffee, and eaten breakfast really helped me maintain a positive attitude. Why would I waste my morning before coffee and endorphins comparing myself to others on social media or becoming irrationally angry over a work email?
5. Change Your Company
The company you keep has a significant impact on who you become. If you're feeling uninspired and down, it may be time to improve your social circle. Both negative and positive emotions can spread quickly. Your closest friends and family should encourage you to reach your full potential.
The best of the best only surround themselves with other top performers. Take advantage of the many willing teachers out there who have found happiness and success and want to pass on their knowledge. Make smart decisions about who you associate with because their success, happiness, and fulfilment will rub off on you and increase your own productivity.
